Driving out west on a one lane each direction road in the wee hours of the morning is a guaranteed recipe for those ‘that would make a great photo’ moments. Finding a way to safely pull over, a whole other ballgame. I didn’t plan to go to Aratula to shoot these shots- I was actually en route to a getaway weekend I was muchly looking forward to out at Girraween National Park.
Found a large flat patch to pull over to jump out into the frosty morning freeze, the emergency being an impossibly beautiful blue and yellow misty sunrise on a farm- Australiana at its best. The timing was good too, it wasn’t 10-15 minutes before the rising sun had extracted the deep saturated colour from the scene, giving it a new palette of subtly tinted greys, rust and silver.
