Comet Lovejoy & Leonis Minoris meteor shower star trail

Here’s my very first attempt at a star trail which I got while chasing a timelapse video of Comet Lovejoy and the Leonis Minoris meteor shower on Boxing Day 2011. Was pretty happy with the results but it was really a convergence of the most ideal conditions and subject matter including being at the right place at the right time. I still look at this picture and get slightly awestruck at the dumb luck of it all. Wonder if I’ll get an opportunity to get my act together for the aurora borealis in NZ this or next year..

Techy specs 5DII + 16-35mm f/2.8 @ 16mm f/2.8 + TC80-N3, 100 30″ RAW frames, ISO 1600 2″ interval, minorly processed in LR (spot healing, levels), stacked in PS CS5 for a combined 53 minute 20 second single frame including intervals, or a 50 minute frame of exposure.
