I have always had fond regard for Shorncliffe- Lower Moora Park for the longest time being the monthly venue for Moonfest which I diligently made an effort to attend. I had some of the best times of my Brisbane life in those monthly get-togethers and was truly and utterly devastated when it ceased being put on. Word had it that it was a chain of events including a renovation to the park and the moving in of a brightly fluorescent lit walkway and alleged noise complaints about an enthusiastic drumming circle, that spelt the end of an era.
The scenic value of the area had not changed though- the jetty is still a grounding presence and the gentle waves of Moreton Bay still reliably welcomes visitors to the neighbourhood. Alexandra Waters and I decided to head down this morning to see if the light would provide a morning treat. What a treat it was too. The sun rose bright above the cloud cover and whenever there was a chance, geometric slivers of sunlight shone down as if to proudly feature Shorncliffe Jetty. As if the earlier fortune of a pastel-paletted sky of pink and blue wasn’t gorgeous enough!
